Harry Potter #7…

The hype for this upcoming book is so high that I am tempted to go to one of those 12am release parties. I could dress up like one of the characters and take SoBe along too!

The problem is that I read up until the 4th book and then sorta fell off the band wagon, as soon as the books became longer than ‘War and Peace’.

Maybe if I’m up to it, I’ll just go and “fake it”, pretend like I am soooo into the book just so that I can go to the parties and get in on the fun!

Can we go look at the Souvenirs?

anne
June 30th, 2007

I’m not sure how far this dates back, but for as long as I can remember I’ve loved souvenirs. It never really mattered how far away we were going or how exciting the destination, I could never leave without at least a tour around the souvenir shop.

Hoever all souvenir stores are NOT created equal, some of the best are in the least expected places. Such as this little place along Big Sur, we stopped in for lunch and found a man making silver jewllery…I bought an amazing ring, it later became discolored but after all these years I still have it and cherish it.

On the other hand some places where you expect to return from with a souvenir or two, leave you disappointed and rather horrified. As was the case during last years visit to the Bahamas, if you could get past the layers of dust and dirt on almost all the chincy items, you’d truly find nothing but crap…and shot glasses. Luckly we stumbled in to a jewellery store where I found a remarkable sliver pendant, it was a starfish made of Bahama blue opal…gorgeous to say the least.

I’ve even gotten J into the world of souvenirs, as we now return from each of our Disney weekends with a new stuffed-animal type magnet. We now have 11 Disney characters stuck up on our fridge, to date.

Once thing is forsure, I’ll never be tired of my souvenirs or the memories they give me with every glance.

anne
March 28th, 2007

I am part of an online panel of super cool people :) that answer really indepth surveys (for $$) and try out new products. Today in the mail, expecting to get a tiny itty bitty sample. I got a huge full size sample of the new product that I’ll be trying. So I lotioned up and I seriously think this sample will last me the rest of the year.

So far it feels nice…but I’m pretty sure I smell like an old lady. I’ll wait til J gets home and hears what he has to say.

Two for the price of one…

I didnt actually even want chocolate today (in between classes), I wanted pretzles. But when I saw a Hersheys chocolate bar hanging on for dear life, I knew that if I pressed 59 that I was gonna get that dangling bar as well as the one right behind it.

It was too tempting not to do. So I ignored my better judgement (to eat chocolate right after I had breakfast) and sniped that bar!

So I now have to say Thank you to who ever put thier money in and got nothing in return…because I got my bar and yours too!

Florida…oh I thought this was Hollywood…

anne
March 26th, 2007

Its been almost six weeks now that South Florida has been thrust into the spotlight with the recent death of Anna Nicole Smith. Its such a shame that its turned into such an absurd chain of events. First with the news media flying here from all across the country, second with the circus that errupted in the courtroom when the Judge gave his rediculous closing speech and now with this mornings autopsy report.

I could have sworn I was watching the Oscars when the Chief Medical Examiner gave his speech this morning. He first started by thanking everyone who had helped in this case, listing each person by name, I lost count after about five minutes. He gave such an elaborate introduction to his findings that is was so anticlimatic when he finally announced the cause of her death. I understand this was a huge news event for South Florida, but all the people involved in this case are acting like star-struck fools. Even the Chief of the Seminole Police had his speech written on paper, which he pulled out from his pocket. I have never seen anything thing like it. This entire media conference lasted well over thirty minutes before the news channels cut back to regular programming.

The worst part of this all is that its still not over. This case can not yet be laid to rest until the little babies father is announced, due to be released sometime this week.

I hope that with the announcement of the DNA results the authorities will be less concerned with the dramatics of the event and more concerned for the babies welfare. I’m sure however that I’ll be rolling my eyes with that announcement aswell.

May in death you find more peace then you ever found in your life.

Organic really does make a difference…

anne
March 26th, 2007

This morning I enjoyed a bowl of organic strawberries and organic bananas and it was amazing. The strawberries were the size that strawberries are supposed to be, not like the oversized aliens you find in the regular market. They were a deep red, so flavorful and fresh. The bananas had a pure banana flavor, clean and smooth. The difference is in the taste. Granted you have to eat the berries a lot faster, for they have nothing keeping them artifically fresh…but thats certainly no trouble for me.

In my opinion real USDA organic foods, seem to have been grown with love. They may cost a bit more, but the work that is put into thier growing process is where that extra cost comes in. I am so much happier eating foods that are natural and fresh tasting, grown without all the extra gunk found in most foods.

Its also not just better for you to eat, its also so much better for the environment and the land that is used for growing the food…not to mention all the animals that have to live in and around agriculture farms. Organic is so healthy for everyone, so if you can, try to incorporate more organic products into your life…your body and the earth will thank you.
