Florida…oh I thought this was Hollywood…
Its been almost six weeks now that South Florida has been thrust into the spotlight with the recent death of Anna Nicole Smith. Its such a shame that its turned into such an absurd chain of events. First with the news media flying here from all across the country, second with the circus that errupted in the courtroom when the Judge gave his rediculous closing speech and now with this mornings autopsy report.
I could have sworn I was watching the Oscars when the Chief Medical Examiner gave his speech this morning. He first started by thanking everyone who had helped in this case, listing each person by name, I lost count after about five minutes. He gave such an elaborate introduction to his findings that is was so anticlimatic when he finally announced the cause of her death. I understand this was a huge news event for South Florida, but all the people involved in this case are acting like star-struck fools. Even the Chief of the Seminole Police had his speech written on paper, which he pulled out from his pocket. I have never seen anything thing like it. This entire media conference lasted well over thirty minutes before the news channels cut back to regular programming.
The worst part of this all is that its still not over. This case can not yet be laid to rest until the little babies father is announced, due to be released sometime this week.
I hope that with the announcement of the DNA results the authorities will be less concerned with the dramatics of the event and more concerned for the babies welfare. I’m sure however that I’ll be rolling my eyes with that announcement aswell.
