One Little Slip

Like it or love it, it’s my life.

Gwen Stefani is totally missing the mark.

My dearest Gwen Stefani has been either misinformed, or has no idea where her fan base lies. I’ve been keeping a very close eye on her two lines of acessories and clothing, Harajuku Lovers and L.A.M.B and they are sooo opposite, that I dont even know what if anything I like about either line.

Harajuku Lovers started out ok, more neutral when it came to a target market and then suddenly it went all down hill. It turned into a line I couldnt even see Barbie buying, aimed at preteens, with a very quirky style. Maybe too Japanese for American girls, so much so that I saw HL being sold at a hello kitty store and the girls looking at it were less then half my age. Gwen has on many occasions suggested that this line is for the fans that bought L.A.M.B last time around, with her line of Le Sportsac bags and clothes. Unfortunatly this stuff is definatly not going to appeal to the fans that bought her old L.A.M.B stuff, maybe thier little sisters or nieces but thats about it. The price point is rather high for what youre getting, the quality is lacking and the style is almost tasteless.

Now Gwen has supposidly revamped her L.A.M.B line, seeing its popularity in years past, has inspired her to raise the price point and take more risque style decisions. Her bags coming out this fall will range from around $300 to upwards of $750 and will be made of leather and higher quality materials. The word on the street is that shes aiming to attract a new fanbase, the demographic being women 30-40, with money to spend on fancy bags and watches. Ok great for them but what about girls like me??

Im in my twenties and girls my age were the ones buying her bags and clothes over the past few years and now we have nothing. We have two options, we can look like kids with cupcake shaped wallets, seethrough backpacks and rainbow watches or we can totally break the bank buying leather watches and purses that arent worth the prices that are being asked for them, or really that amazing.

I wish someone would have advised Gwen that she was totally missing the mark here, her true fans will endup buying from one line or the other, only because Gwen has designed it and really not loving it like we all loved the original L.A.M.B line. I know I’ll get sucked in too but I’d really rather love love love something, instead of forcing myself to like it. I hope that some how Gwen will get the message that the one group of girls that shes missing here, the twenty-somethings are her true fans and we would absolutly buy everything Gwen if only she had designed it with us in mind.
